Brooke Ence has been turning heads and making moves in becoming the very best person she can be both physically and mentally. From dancing at the games in 2014 to placing top 15 in 2015, we touch on what kind of habits she has developed/been developing in order to continually make progress and ultimately reach her dreams of becoming a podium finisher. We also go on to touch on the things that haven't been so frequently discussed, what she ultimately strives to be and achieve in her life both in and outside of the fitness community.
This week's podcast interview is with my rockstar girlfriend Adee Zukier, founder, and CEO of Working Against Gravity. Adee has worked with Games athletes, World Team weightlifters, and Olympians, as well as thousands of other athletes. Men, women, young, old, overweight, underweight, etc. She's seen it all.
WAG has the most incredible transformations I've ever seen, and there are tons of them. So we talk about what it is that sets those people apart (the ones that have huge transformations). We talk about the most common mistakes people make and strategies for preventing them all.
Sure I am biased, but Working Against Gravity has the potential to truly change the world with its approach. They don't just focus on nutrition, but on helping people be happier in general. If you want more information about Adee and WAG go to www.WorkingAgainstGravity.com.

This week's interview is with one of the Godfathers of Strength and Conditioning, Dan John. For years I have looked up to Dan as a coach and man in general. He is a no-bullshit, do what works kind of guy.
Coach was a 2x Highland Games Champion, a full bright scholar, and has coached Olympians, special forces, professional athletes as well as thousands of ordinary folks.
He has written for numerous magazines, newspapers, and websites including Breaking Muscle, Men's Health, and T-nation for years.
We talk about some technical things like the minimum effective dose and "internal pressure." My favorite part of the interview was talking a little sports psychology and hearing a few great analogies on the concept of being properly aroused for specific sports.
There are some real gems in this one. I hope you enjoy.

This week we interview Lucas Parker, Canada's most beloved lumberjack. Topics covered include; his training over the last few years, what he has learned from his many appearances at The Crossfit Games, how to deal with emotional distress, what goes into being one of the most calm and collected individuals out on the competition floor, and also how to prepare both mentally and physically for practically anything that is thrown your way. Enjoy the show.

Coach Hatch is arguably the most successful weightlifting coach in the nation. NFL Record Holders, NBA Superstars, Olympians in several different sports... He's coached em all. I met him in 2012, after we had won the Crossfit Games for the first time. He immediately instilled in me the fact that you NEVER sacrifice technique for added weight. His gym is a factory for developing dynamic strength, power, and speed. He is an incredible story teller and even better coach. Enjoy the show.

I met Rob MacDonald (Bobby Maximus) in 2011 as he programmed for our team the first year I went to the Crossfit Games. He also trained two individuals that year, Tommy Hackenbruck and Taylor Richards-Lindsey. We were a hard working group if nothing else. However, when Rob would show up to train us on occasion, I remember thinking that every workout was the hardest one I'd ever done. He communicates with athletes in a way that pushes them to their limits, and he is good at finding each person's buttons.
Before accepting a job at Gym Jones, he fought in the UFC in the Light Heavyweight Division. At Gym Jones he is the general manager, and it is there that he has worked with NFL players, professional climbers and skiers, and many more. Physically, this guy is an absolute freak. He can bench 315 for a set of 20, back squats close to 500, and his strength isn't even his strong suit.
His strong suit is his engine. He has done some ridiculous things on an airdyne. He has biked for 88 calories in 1 minute, and 900 in 30 minutes!!!!! If a guy can get 300 in 10 minutes, he is considered to be in great great shape. To do that 3x in a row is unbelievable.
Enjoy the show.
This week Drew Canavero and I interview Jim McDonald, the creator and producer of SuperTraining TV and Mark Bell’s PowerCast. Jim has been the man behind the scenes of one of the nations most famous gyms for a while now. We talk about the evolution of the fitness industry and specifically how his gym feels about Crossfit athletes.
He tells us a few stories from the past, and of course we discuss the prevalence of homosexuality in powerlifting.
This week’s interview is my most technical yet, but for good reason. Dave Bradley, owner of i99fit has worked with elite level gymnasts for years. He answers some of the most frequently asked questions amongst Crossfit athletes. “How do I get better at muscle ups?” “How do I learn to walk on my hands?” “I know lots of drills, but I don’t know what order to do them in…”
He goes over progressions for the two sexiest movements in Crossfit: The Muscle Up and the Handstand Pushup. He goes over detailed descriptions of form, drills, and progressions.
Dave is a true coach. He is passionate about teaching and is a phenomenal motivator. He shares with me what he thinks are the most important traits of a good coach and how to become better.
This week's interview is with Bruce Pitcher. Obviously watching any of the weight loss shows such as “Biggest Loser” and “Extreme Weight Loss” are impressive and inspiring. I had honestly never paid much attention to the people’s actual stories. I had a naïve, almost mean view of people that were extremely overweight. I thought they were just lazy, weak people that chose not to put the fork down. Then I watched Bruce Pitcher’s episode of Extreme Weight Loss, and I couldn’t have been more wrong. Bruce’s story is one of pain and destruction, abandonment, shame, and anger. Eating was a coping mechanism. What Bruce overcame was way more than losing 200lbs in a year. He conquered his demons. I hope every one of you can gain some perspective and inspiration from this show. Enjoy.
Tommy Hackenbruck has been one of my best friends and mentors over the last several years and it is only fitting that our very first podcast be with the biggest BRUTE in the game. We have won the Crossfit Games together twice. We have done Sealfit together. We have gone through a lot.The most impressive thing about Tommy is his mental game. The best example I can give of how tough this dude is is my experience with him at Sealfit. There are future Navy Seals in every Kokoro camp class. There were nearly 10 Games athletes. He blew everyone out of the water. Was he in pain? Yes. Did he show it? Not in the least.I finally got to sit down on camera with him and ask him exactly what led to his mental toughness. We talked about steroid use in Crossfit and his experience at the Games as an individual vs. a team.- Mike Cazayoux
